Once a year always on Veteran’s Day Highland students invite one of their Family members to spend the afternoon celebrating the Highland School. This Day is called Family Day and it was celebrated On November 12, 2012 at the Highland Ballroom. The theme is different every year and this year we celebrated BRITISH INVASION. All classes from Kindergarten to 8th grade performed a song with choreographed moves and special costumes by popular British Bands old and new. The Music was from the Beatles to One Direction. Highland Families also had a special visit from the Queen , Prince Philip, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and America’s Royalty President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. The Royal family were portrayed by Highland Students to the surprise of everyone including some of their parents. The Royal Visitors arrived by a White Horse Drawn Carriage and were Flanked by the Royal Guards. Highland Families dined on Iced Tea and “Fish and chips” which are typical British Food Faire. After all the performances Highland students were able to dance the afternoon away to the most popular hits. Every family had their picture taken by Mrs. Korn and it was a fun day had by all.
